Those demonizing terms uttered at Mt Rushmore remind me of those used in 1875 to contrive the war to take He Sapa in the first place. President Grant leaked a false military report to the press, describing Sitting Bull as hostile, lofty, independent, contemptuous, defiant, boastful, scornful, savage, untamable, uncivilized, and disrespectful of white authority.

"London felt compelled to rely upon Negro soldiers & sailors, as the colonists came to rely upon Negro slaves..the model in the "Mother Country" was based upon a certain privilege for the English, as against the Irish & Scots..the colonies(desperate for "whites) ...counter the fearsome presence of Africans..could empower the Irish..seeking to attract Africans to the banner...But such a policy could only alienate mainland settlers, driving then toward a unilateral declaration of independence on 4 July 1776". Thanks, Gerald Horne
